About me
I transferred to Central Washington University from Pierce College in 2018. Being able to come into the Apparel, Textiles and Merchandising major with all of my general classes done has been such an amazing experience because I have been able to focus solely on the classes in the major. Coming to Central has been one of the best decisions I've made and I'm so thankful for all the wonderful people I have met here and the amazing teachers that have guided me on my education journey. I am excited to keep learning more things that will help me with my career in the fashion industry.
Through this program, I have grown and learned a lot more about my personal strengths. I have an amazing eye for detail and color and I have been able to further develop these strengths through hands-on projects such as mood boards, trend reports, and line sheets. I recently became the treasurer for the Student Fashion Association and this has helped me be a stronger leader and pushed me to be more proactive. This program has a lot of group projects and assignments that require you to work with others. This has helped my teamwork skills and has helped prepare me for a career that involves working with others on a daily basis.
I am keeping an open mind when it comes to specific job titles in the industry. I know that I want to be in the fashion industry, I have no doubt about that in my mind, but I feel that I haven't found the perfect job that encompasses all of my skills and strengths. Some jobs that do interest me though are being a stylist, maybe for a celebrity or a movie, a buyer for a clothing company, or a clothing designer, especially in lingerie. I think that my eye for detail and color would be perfect for the styling jobs and I love being a part of big productions so working on a movie set would be really exciting. You can do a lot with buying positions and there is an opportunity to travel to market a few times a year, which is also very appealing to me. I am excited to continue my education at Central and to keep exploring all the different aspects of the fashion industry.
